Why Your Spine Matters
Your spine is like the main support for your body. If it’s not in the right shape, it can cause problems. These problems include pain, inflammation, and issues with the muscles and organs that your spine connects to. It’s really important to keep your spine and the discs between your vertebrae healthy.
What Are Spinal Discs?
Spinal discs are small, cushion-like pads between the bones (vertebrae) of your spine. They help your spine move and absorb shocks. If these discs get damaged or don’t get enough nutrients, they can wear out, causing pain and other problems.
How to Keep Your Spine Healthy
1. Know Your Spine’s Structure: It’s important to understand how your spine is built and how it should move. At Lighthouse, we use a special method called Advanced CBP (Chiropractic Biophysics) to analyze your spine. This involves taking specific X-rays to see if your spine is in its ideal shape.
2. Preventing Disc Problems: If your spine isn’t in its proper shape, it can cause your discs to wear out. This is because abnormal alignment can stop the discs from getting the nutrients they need. We call this issue a “subluxation.” To prevent this, it’s important to take care of your spine regularly, even if you’re not in pain. This is called “wellness care.”
3. Restoring Spinal Health: If we find that your spine is not in its best shape, don’t worry! There are specific care programs tailored just for you. These programs help restore your spine’s structure and function, allowing the discs to get the nutrients they need and become healthier. How much improvement you see depends on how much damage was there to begin with. This also affects how often you might need chiropractic adjustments.
Why Choose Lighthouse?
At Lighthouse, we specialize in analyzing your spine and its connection to your nervous system to improve your overall health and well-being. We are one of only two Advanced Certified CBP offices in all of Western Canada. Dr. Jenkins, our clinic director, is highly trained and experienced in this field and has even published research on disc regeneration.
Scientific Support
Our methods are supported by scientific research. Studies have shown the importance of spinal structure and nutrient transport in maintaining disc health. For example, the Journal of Clinical Medicine and the E Spine Journal have published research on spinal health and disc degeneration, highlighting the significance of proper spine care.
